To acknowledge the disproportionate impact of the epidemic on homosexual men, the National Association of People with AIDS established National homosexual Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day in 2008.
Given that homosexual and bisexual men frequently experience a number of obstacles, including racism, homophobia, discrimination, and stigma, which may increase their risk of contracting HIV, the observance provides a chance to improve awareness about ending HIV stigma and promoting HIV testing, prevention, and treatment.
